Buildings and Places

The Elks Home Cheyenne High School by itself and one with the Carnegie Library (1st in the US) in the background. Library opened in 1902 and was torn down in 1969. Better picture of the library below. (not immediately below, but Below)....I just LOVE the one with the High School alone. Memorial Hospital

The Boyd Building

American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie offered $50,000 toward a new building in 1899. Three years later, the Laramie County Library opened May 19, 1902, on the southeast corner of 22nd Street and Capitol Ave, offering 10,000 square feet of space. This was the first of the Carnegie Libraries in the United States and was torn down in 1969.
